Request

Hope you're well. I am writing to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000: The number of drug driving offences recorded for the years 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 to date. 1. Please can this be broken down by age, age and gender, and month of offence for each year. 2. If time allows, please also provide the number of offences broken down by age and time of day, e.g. 12am - 1am, 1am, - 2am, etc. 3. If you're unable to break down by hours of the day, please provide for day time / night time offences, e.g. 7pm - 7am, 7am - 7pm If any part of this request would exceed the appropriate cost limit under section 12 of the Act, I would be grateful if you could contact me to discuss how it might be narrowed. I would prefer to receive the information as a spreadsheet/CSV where the information is structured data. I look forward to a response within 20 working days, as required by the Act.

Response

Figures have been provided by calendar year based on the recorded offence/arrest date contained within the source dataset. Data has been broken down by:

  • Age group;

  • Gender;

  • Month of offence; and

  • Time of day.

Age has been grouped as:

  • Under 18

  • 18-24

  • 25-34

  • 35-44

  • 45-54

  • 55+

  • Unknown (where age was not recorded)

Gender and age information reflect details recorded on police systems at the time of the offence/arrest and are subject to the quality of the recorded data.

2026 figures are year-to-date only and do not represent a complete calendar year.

The data has been extracted from operational policing systems and may be subject to subsequent amendment.
